We live in a world where disruptive innovation and technologies are constantly reinventing our context. The effects of the fourth industrial revolution, and associated innovations and technologies, are of particular relevance to the community of educators, academic and industry leaders, researchers and students who are involved in engineering education. Furthermore, engineers are, now more than ever, heralded as the heroes who can meet the challenges of this rapidly changing world and create a better future for humanity and our planet. The global engineering education community is faced with the tremendous task of thinking of innovative, equitable, flexible and adaptable solutions for rising to this challenge – for creating disruptive innovations for engineering education, for a world that is beset with challenges, in order to change the trajectory of humanity and to create a sustainable and ethical future for all.
